There are over 110 Men of St. Joseph chapters across the United States and beyond. But there are a lot of parishes that don't have one yet. Maybe yours is one of them.

Starting a Men of St. Joseph chapter doesn't require a theology degree, a perfect track record, or a large budget. It requires a man who takes his faith seriously, a pastor willing to support it, and a handful of other men ready to show up. If that sounds like you, here's how it works.

1

Pray

Start where everything important starts — in prayer. Ask for clarity, ask for the right men to come alongside you, and ask whether this is something you're genuinely called to lead. This isn't a one-man job, and discernment at the front end saves a lot of difficulty later.

2

Pastor

Your pastor's support matters — not as a formality, but because a chapter that operates with his blessing is more stable and more effective than one that doesn't. The good news is that Men of St. Joseph is entirely lay-led. We're not asking him to run anything or add anything to his plate. We're asking to come alongside his mission. Most pastors, once they understand that, are genuinely glad to have it in their parish.
